Key Dates for JoSAA Counselling 2025

Here are the expected dates for JoSAA Counselling 2025:

  • Registration Start Date: 3rd June 2025

  • Choice Filling and Locking: 3rd to 12th June 2025

  • Mock Seat Allotment (Round 1): 8th June 2025

  • Mock Seat Allotment (Round 2): Early June 2025

  • First Round of Seat Allotment: Min July 2025

  • Subsequent Rounds: June to mid July 2025

Eligibility for JoSAA 2025

To participate in JoSAA counselling, you must satisfy the following criteria:

  1. JEE Main Candidates: Eligible for NITs, IIITs, and GFTIs.

  2. JEE Advanced Candidates: Eligible for IITs and other institutions under JoSAA.

Ensure that your rank in JEE Main or Advanced meets the required cutoffs for the institutions you're aiming for.


Step-by-Step JoSAA Counselling Process

1. Registration

  • Visit the official JoSAA website josaa.nic.in.

  • Log in using your JEE Main/Advanced roll number and password.

  • Verify your details like name, rank, category, etc.

2. Choice Filling and Locking

  • Select the colleges and courses in order of preference.

  • You can fill as many choices as you want.

  • Review your choices carefully before locking them. Once locked, they cannot be changed.

3. Mock Seat Allotment

  • JoSAA conducts two rounds of mock seat allotments.

  • This helps you understand which seats you might get based on your rank and preferences.

  • Modify your choices after mock allotments if needed.

4. Seat Allotment Rounds

  • JoSAA will release seat allotment results for multiple rounds.

  • Check the result using your login credentials.

  • If you’re allotted a seat, download the provisional allotment letter.

5. Seat Acceptance

  • Pay the seat acceptance fee (₹30,000 for General/OBC; ₹15,000 for SC/ST/PwD).

  • Choose one of the following options:

    • Freeze: Accept the seat and don’t participate in further rounds.

    • Float: Accept the seat but keep an eye on better options in subsequent rounds.

    • Slide: Accept the seat but look for an upgrade in the same institute.

6. Document Verification

  • Visit the reporting center for document verification / Online verification as per the allotted college instruction.

  • Documents required include:

    • JEE Main/Advanced scorecard

    • Class 10 and 12 marksheets

    • Category certificate (if applicable) made after 31st march 2025. (josaa format most preferable)

    • Domicile certificate/12th marksheet (for state quota)

    • Pwd certificate (if applicable)

    • Medical Certificate

    • Passport size photograph (same as jee application)

    • Passport for foreign students

7. Final Admission

  • After the last round of counselling, report to the allotted institute to complete the admission process.
